Lincoln and Lawrence Tech have launched the 2nd annual “Designing for the Future” Competition with $75,000 in scholarships to be awarded.

Designing for the Future Competition 2012 PosterFord Motor Company Fund and Lawrence Technological University – the technological university based in Southfield, MI - are sponsoring the second edition of the “Designing for the Future” Competition, open to high school seniors or transfer students interested in receiving an award to Lawrence Tech’s Transportation Design or Industrial Design programs.

Over $75,000 in scholarships will be awarded to students completing the admissions process and submitting a design proposal in either the automotive or product track.

Luxury can be defined in various ways depending on demographics, geography and era.

Define the meaning of American Luxury for a customer that is 20 – 30 years old.

Use images and keywords to create a composition of the research and customer background.

Using this research, find an inspirational image that will help you design and develop one of the concepts below for the year 2025.

Designing for the Future Competition 2012 Poster Automotive Project

Design a halo vehicle for Lincoln that establishes the new definition of American luxury relevant to the customer environment and lifestyle.

Designing for the Future Competition 2012 Poster Product Project

Identify products that would appeal to luxury customers, such as: shoes, apparels, fashion, furniture, luggage, pens, watch, etc.

Design several product(s) that emphasize the brand character of Lincoln luxury.

It’s possible to register until Monday December 10, 2012. A College Application is required to be sent by Friday December 14, 2012, while the final deadline for entry submission is Monday December 17, 2012.

The winners will be invited and announced at the MAIN Event on Sunday January, 13, 2013 at the Detroit Motor Show, in front of industry leading designers and executives.
